SHW Casting Technologies invests in the Königsbronn plant
Along with the plants in Aalen-Wasseralfingen, Königsbronn and Torrington (USA), SHW Casting Technologies is one of the most important pillars of the CT Group. The CT Group operates foundries in two other locations in Germany and manufactures high-quality castings up to a unit weight of 125 tonnes. The Heidenheim foundry has a strong presence in this market, manufacturing castings for energy production. The Kiel foundry manufactures engine housings and cylinder heads. 800 qualified employees and an additional 77 trainees represent an important competitive advantage for the CT Group in the international market.

Meyer Shipyard delivers the "Celebrity Equinox"
After the completion of comprehensive tests and machine trials, the new cruise liner for Celebrity Cruises (Miami, USA), the "Celebrity Equinox", left the enclosed dock II building at the Meyer Shipyard on 6 June 2009. The sister ship of the "Celebrity Solstice" – which was awarded the coveted "Ship of the year 2008" award by HANSA – is reason enough for a brief introduction also to the new "Celebrity Equinox". The "Celebrity Equinox" is the second of five cruise liners for Celebrity Cruises.

"Queen Elizabeth" equipped with engines from Kiel
Next summer will see a royal offspring on the oceans. After "Queen Mary 2" and "Queen Victoria" once again there will be a new "Queen Elizabeth". In the dock of the Italian Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, near Triest, the keel was laid yesterday for the 292 meter long luxury liner.

Investment in the Königsbronn works increases the competitiveness of the whole CT Group
The strategy laid down by the SHW Casting Technologies (SHW CT) management board for the Königsbronn works is product diversification. Königsbronn is to be developed into a know-how center for machining of large castings. Hence the company has invested about 15 million euros in a new machine shop where a range of different large castings can be machined.
